Meet the founder

Hannah Dowd, MS, BCBA, is the founder and lead clinician of Poppy Behavioral Health. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over a decade of experience, Hannah has devoted her career to delivering compassionate, evidence-based behavioral services that empower individuals and families to achieve meaningful growth and independence.

Hannah earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Whittier College and her Master’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from Capella University. She began her career primarily working with children with developmental disabilities, supporting the acquisition of communication, daily living, and adaptive skills that enhance independence, confidence, and overall quality of life.

Over time, Hannah expanded her practice to include typically developing adults, applying ABA principles to health coaching, habit development, and staff management. She is passionate about using behavioral science to create sustainable, measurable change for individuals across the lifespan.

Among all areas of her work, Hannah’s primary professional interest is toilet training. She recognizes that achieving toileting independence is a significant adaptive skill that opens new opportunities for clients and substantially improves daily life for families.

Outside of her professional role, Hannah enjoys a fulfilling home life with her two cats, Geo & Nigel and her dog, Philly. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family, reading, lounging in the sun, hiking, exploring new restaurants, and watching  football with her husband.

As both founder and lead clinician at Poppy Behavioral Health, Hannah is committed to providing ethical, culturally responsive, and person-centered care. She leads with compassion, collaboration, and a steadfast belief that every individual—regardless of age or ability—can learn, grow, and achieve greater independence.
